Quercus acutissima Carr.
The Sawtooth Oak is originally from Eastern Asia, China, Korea, and Japan. It has been widely planted in this country as it is faster-growing than some of the native oaks. However, the wood is prone to cracking and splitting. For that reason, it is mainly used for posts. The tree does produce many acorns and, for that reason, it is also planted as a food source for wildlife. It is quickly becoming a naturalized species.
