List of Trees 1-30

Boxelder

Acer negundo L.

Family Sapindaceae

The leaves of the Boxelder resemble those of some ash trees. In fact, it has been called the "ash-leaf maple" in many parts of the country. It is distinct in the leaf pattern (three-five leaflets per leaf) and its affinity for wet areas. The wood is soft and weak making it a low-value tree on commercial markets. Its two-winged fruits are also distinctive.
